From News Center (Text by Tang Yuqin, International Exchange Department (Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office), School of International Education; Photo by Conference Organizer) On April 27, 2026, the annual conference of the China-Indonesia TVET Industry-Education Alliance (CITIEA) was held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. During the conference, Liuzhou Polytechnic University (LZPU) officially signed an agreement with Politeknik Manufaktur Bandung (POLMAN) of Indonesia to jointly establish the Indonesia-China Institute of Engineering and Technology. This marks a landmark leap from a memorandum of understanding to official academic operations for China's first institute of engineering and technology in Indonesia.

Indonesia-China Institute of Engineering and Technology is jointly established by LZPU and POLMAN. It aligns with the development needs of Chinese-funded equipment manufacturing enterprises in Indonesia as well as local industrial demands. In its initial phase, the institute will have two departments: the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and the Department of New Energy Vehicle Engineering. As agreed, the institute will adopt Chinese and English as the languages of instruction and fully implement Chinese professional standards. Chinese faculty members will undertake more than one-third of all teaching tasks. The institute will apply the modern apprenticeship talent cultivation model with Chinese characteristics. Chinese-funded enterprises will participate deeply in the institute's development, providing equipment support, internship opportunities, and employment channels, thereby truly achieving "university-enterprise collaboration and the integration of learning and application." The establishment of the Indonesia-China Institute of Engineering and Technology marks a milestone upgrade in LZPU's cooperative education efforts with Indonesian institutions. It also signifies that LZPU's overseas education presence in Indonesia has advanced from project-based cooperation to the construction of a long-term, stable academic education platform.

It is reported that LZPU and POLMAN have laid a solid foundation for cooperative education. The two sides have already cooperated in the "1+1+1" dual-degree joint training program and co-led the implementation of the Indonesia-China Vocational Education Enhancement Program (ICVEEP). After the official launch of the Indonesia-China Institute of Engineering and Technology, it will provide stable talent support for the localized development of Chinese-funded equipment manufacturing enterprises in Indonesia and offer valuable, replicable experience for other Chinese vocational institutions seeking to establish overseas campuses.
