From News Center (Text by Tang Yuqin, International Exchange Department (Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office); Photo by Conference Organizer) On April 27, 2026, the annual conference of the China-Indonesia TVET Industry-Education Alliance (CITIEA) was held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. Witnessed by Pratikno, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs of Indonesia; Oki Earlivan Sampurno, Special Adviser to the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of Indonesia; Chen Wu, Education Counselor of the Embassy of China in Indonesia; and Ova Emilia, Rector of Universitas Gadjah Mada, Qiu Fuming, Vice President of Liuzhou Polytechnic University (LZPU), on behalf of the Chinese member institutions of the Alliance, donated 13 textbooks to the Forum of Directors of State Polytechnics in Indonesia (FDPNI). This marked the official release and promotion of the first batch of textbooks jointly compiled by vocational institutions from the two countries under the Indonesia-China Vocational Education Enhancement Program (ICVEEP).

The first batch of textbooks includes foundational and core courses for the Mechatronics major, such as Mechanical DesignMachine Vision Applications, Computer-Aided DrawingDigital Design of Mechanical Products, and Advanced Programming and Application of PLC Systems. Each textbook was jointly compiled by a Chinese vocational institution and an Indonesian polytechnic, and translated into Indonesian. Tailored to the teaching and learning habits of Indonesian lecturers and students, both printed and electronic versions were released simultaneously. Incorporating the latest technologies and standards of Chinese enterprises operating in Indonesia, the textbooks precisely meet the talent needs of local Chinese-funded manufacturing enterprises. They fill the long-standing gap of outdated or insufficient teaching materials in Indonesian vocational polytechnics. This also marks the first official publication and distribution of Chinese vocational education textbooks in Indonesia.

At the annual conference, representatives from 58 Indonesian institutions offering mechatronics-related majors actively applied to receive the textbooks. A director of an Indonesian polytechnic remarked, "This set of textbooks contains the real-world technologies and standards adopted by Chinese enterprises — exactly what we need the most!" On behalf of the Alliance, LZPU presented donations to each institution one by one, kicking off the large-scale application of the textbooks across Indonesia. The promotion and application of this batch of e-textbooks will vigorously facilitate the implementation and popularization of Chinese vocational education standards in Indonesia, provide sustained impetus for improving the training quality of manufacturing skilled talents in both countries, and consolidate the talent foundation for production capacity cooperation between China and Indonesia.

It is reported that the ICVEEP project team is compiling a total of 21 mechatronics textbooks, helping Indonesian vocational education achieve a leap from lacking teaching materials to using high-quality ones.
